CSD Görlitz: Administrative Court rejects urgent application

The district office does not regard the closing event of the Christopher Street Day in Görlitz as a political event. The organisers are resisting this. But an urgent application to the court now fails.

By MDR SAXONY The closing event of the Christopher Street Day in Görlitz and Zgorzelec continues to occupy the courts. There is a dispute as to whether the "Picnic of Diversity" is considered a protected gathering. The District Office of Görlitz had revoked this status because it does not see it as a political part of the event. Organisers would have to bear costs themselves The organisers would therefore have to bear security and cleaning costs themselves, among other things.

The CSD Görlitz-Zgorzelec association defended itself before the Dresden Administrative Court. The court now rejected an urgent request and asked the assembly authority of the county to decide on the status of the picnic. Similar CSD dispute in Dresden There was a similar dispute in Dresden this year. The state directorate had instructed the city to classify the stationary part of the three-day CSD festival as a commercial event.

A political meeting is just a move through the city. The Higher Administrative Court in Bautzen did not follow this and granted the appeal of the CSD Association. The entire Dresden CSD was finally classified as an assembly. MDR (sth/mis)
