Jubilation in the hall, counter-demo in front of the door: The AfD leadership was confident at the end of the election campaign in Neubrandenburg.
A party bursting with self-confidence: Despite the latest election survey for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in which the SPD is just ahead of the AfD, the party is confident of victory. By Martina Rathke With the Berlin leadership duo Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla as well as the election winner in Saxony-Anhalt, Ulrich Siegmund, the partly right-wing extremist AfD has deployed its top personnel at the end of the election campaign in Neubrandenburg. The message is clear: after Saxony-Anhalt, the AfD wants to enter the state parliament as the strongest force here as well – and from this position make a claim to the post of prime minister. Holm wants "repatriation police" and commissioning of the Nord Stream pipeline AfD Prime Minister candidate Leif-Erik Holm wipes out the last poll result of the ZDF from the previous day, which the AfD sees as one percentage point behind the SPD with 36 percent.
"Anything is possible, Uli has proven. It's not about polls, it's about election results," Holm says fiercely. The country had to be moved forward, far too much had broken down, he complains. "The new force that has matured into the People's Party, the AfD, must take over." Holm advocates the commissioning of the Nord Stream pipeline and the introduction of a "repatriation police" - to deport those who have no right of residence, he says.
The SPD in MV under Manuela Schwesig had run the country into the ground. “We're swapping this woman for blue now." Once again, Holm announces that he is cancelling the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty. 1,000 people are demonstrating against the AfD. Around 850 supporters cheer for Holm in the hall of the House of Education and Culture - with Germany flags that the party had previously distributed in the squares. The AfD has set up a public viewing in the underground car park of the building, and hundreds of other people would follow the event there, according to the AfD.
Meanwhile, according to police reports, up to 1,000 people demonstrated in front of the house with chants against the AfD. Siegmund: At the end of the year, the first AfD-led state government will stand in the Standing Ovations hall and "Uli-Rufe" for Ulrich Siegmund. He is celebrated like a pop star. “We're taking our country back together,” he shouts to supporters.
For the first time in MV, there was a chance to throw the CDU out of a state parliament, Siegmund said. He assumes that the first AfD-led government in Germany will be in Saxony-Anhalt in November or December. Federal Chairman Weidel: MV election has an impact on Berlin Federal Chairman Tino Chrupalla blows to the general attack against the CDU, which would come to six percent in polls in MV at the moment. This CDU needs no one, neither in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern nor in the Confederation.
He swears the audience on a change of power. Saxony-Anhalt is the beginning with a first AfD Prime Minister. "We will continue in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern," says Chrupalla. However, the survey results do not show this.
The party lacks a coalition partner in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. According to the latest survey, the BSW comes to four percent. Co-chairwoman Alice Weidel was convinced that the election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern would have an impact on Berlin. Merz will give his last speech as Chancellor next week, according to Weidel.
"On Sunday, we will make history," she tells the audience.
