The leading candidate of the left for the elections to the House of Representatives has a good chance of moving into the Red City Hall as the next Governing Mayor and thus making it equal to the socialist Zohran Mamdani, who conquered the City Hall in New York last year. Similar to Mamdani, Eralp also focuses on the topics of social justice and affordable living space. In a five-point plan, she now explains what she wants to do first if the Berliners give her the confidence next Sunday. The paper, which is exclusively available to the ARD capital studio in advance, will be presented by Eralp on Monday in Berlin together with the Federal Chairwoman of the Left Party, Ines Schwerdtner.

Eralp promises to make the city affordable and clean again and to spread confidence. Unsurprisingly, the topic of renting is right at the beginning. After all, it is by far the top topic for Berliners in this election. Eralp wants to introduce a rent cap for the apartments of the state-owned housing company.
